When not tending to the vineyards and overseeing winemaking for Ackerman Family Vineyards, Bob is the Founder and Managing Director of Allegis Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm he founded in 1996. As a venture capitalist, Bob applies capital and his own experience as an operating executive and start-up founder to working with entrepreneurs to build market leading technology-based businesses from creative and disruptive ideas.
Prior to forming Allegis Capital, Bob was the founder and Chairman of InfoGear Technology Corporation, a venture-backed start-up company that designed and built the original iPhonesR – integrating web and telephone functionality into the first internet appliances. InfoGear was acquired by Cisco. Previously, he had more than fifteen years of general management, venture capital and strategic mergers and acquisition advisory experience working with information technology start-up companies and multinational corporations to develop and implement business strategies for competitive advantage. He began his technology executive career as the CEO of UniSoft Systems (a world leading UNIX systems house operating in the U.S., Europe and Asia).
He is a leading speaker and author on the subjects of innovation, entrepreneurism, and venture capital – as well as related areas of public policy. Bob has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and is a member of the Board of Trustees of the San Francisco-based Asian Art Museum.
