Ackerman Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2004
In Stock
Peter Marks, Master of Wine (MW), first tasted our 2004 vintage upon its release in 2008 and has been kind enough to retaste the 2004 in 2009 to see how the vintage has developed.
2009 Tasting Notes
"Like the 2003 Ackerman Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine is developing beautifully and is wonderfully delicious to drink. It confirms the verdict of many pundits that Napa Valley Cabs from the 2004 vintage are wines to cellar. The wine is even more complex and satisfying than a year ago. It combines the best of two styles: perfectly ripened Napa fruit with dark cherry, blackberry and sweet plum, along with cedar and spice typical of Bordeaux or a Napa Valley cooler site. This is truly an astounding wine that still has a long way to go – 10 years at least if you can resist drinking it now."
2008 Tasting Notes
“When offered to taste the Ackerman’s 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, I expected a worthy follow up to their impressive 2003 bottling. Now having tasted the wine, I can honestly say my expectations were exceeded beyond my wildest dreams. This wine is superb! I’m a big fan of the 2004 Napa Valley Cabernets and this wine has all the characteristics that demonstrate why it’s such an amazing vintage. You’ll love the wine’s rich, lush, blackberry, ripe plum and sweet anise flavors, beautifully integrated with sweet toasty oak, full
(yet soft) tannins, and impeccably long finish. The wine offers power with finesse and while hard to resist now, I would definitely cellar some for 10 to 15 years and watch this beauty develop.”
